A.P. Green Chapel
Destination for Quiet Moments
Offering a place of comfort, peace, reflection
A.P. Green Chapel offers a quiet, welcoming space at the heart of campus life. Connected to Memorial Student Union, it provides a nondenominational setting for reflection, ceremonies and shared experiences.
Dedicated in 1959 as a gift from the Allen P. and Josephine B. Green Foundation, the chapel was designed to serve the entire university community, supporting both personal moments and campus traditions.
Architect O.W. Stiegemeyer designed the chapel to complement the scale and character of Memorial Student Union while creating a more intimate atmosphere. Its simple, reverent design emphasizes natural light, clean lines and warm materials, offering a contrast to the surrounding activity and supporting a sense of calm and focus.
Today, the chapel hosts weddings and special events, while remaining open for individual prayer and quiet time when not reserved.
Whether you’re marking a milestone or taking a quiet pause, A.P. Green Chapel provides a meaningful space for connection, reflection and meditation.
