The Shack is Back

And so is your chance to make your mark at MU!

Remember the first time you walked through the green door of the Shack? Generations of Mizzou students hung out while carving their initials in the tables and booths of the Shack. Though the old Shack is gone, this unique Mizzou tradition will live on in the new MU Student Center. We won't let you carve on the tables, but we can help you carve a memory on permanent wooden panels. Surrounded by authentic Shack memorabilia and original carvings, your new, personal carving will help celebrate a well-loved campus hangout.

More importantly, your gift will provide much-needed scholarship money that will give future students the opportunity to attend Mizzou. So carve away, knowing that you are helping future students create their own memories.

About the Shack

Ask any alum about the Shack and they're apt to say - it wasn't pretty but it was the place to be! We want the area designated for the "new" Shack to have that same special feeling - minus the creaking boards! Thanks to our friends Joe and Bert Franke, this campus folklore will be forever remembered in a new and desperately needed lounge and event area in the center. The new Shack will serve as a place to study and hang out by day and as an event venue by night. Nostalgic artifacts from the original Shack will be integrated into the interior design of this lounge.
